Passion

The theme, the Passion of Christ, is an older project I worked on for over 3 years. It started with crosses, followed by the crucifix and the Piëta.

I depicted the crucifixion semi abstract. I feel that the suffering is too intense to face literally, like you can’t look fully into the sun. It is also a way to pay respect.

Although in Medieval and Renaissance art the crucifixion is often depicted realistically.

The project was also an artistic research in the use of the materials, color and composition.

Although it is about the suffering of Christ, in most paintings there is also light. Because of the perspective after the suffering.

There are often invitations for exhibitions with this project.
