Artist Statement
Writer and poet Abdelkader Benali, once said about my poetry that it holds an overwhelming vulnerability. I think that is also the core of my visual art. It seems to be part of who I am.
In my art I question the theme with different expressions and techniques. From monumental photography, to delicate drawings, to expressive paintings and also video and small installations. A characteristic in my art is the regular use of a central form in the composition.

The complexity and challenges in life are furthermore subjects within the overall theme of being vulnerable. Part of the research concerns my faith. Despite imbalance, chaos and suffering, there is also love, light and purpose.
I like to explore different materials and techniques. That which I want to articulate, develops in the process, where material and meaning are intwined. Lately I explore the blending of photography, drawing/painting and digital editing.
A member of the art committee of the Fontein Church in Amersfoort, described my art:
“The monumental acrylic paintings that one can admire in the current exhibition, and the delicate ecoline drawings and monoprints in her book, symbolize in my opinion human strength and vulnerability (two sides of the same medal), that are united within the artist. They testify of her life experience, insights and wisdom” – Marion Vorage

Review Art Course STORING AUB
“Grady van den Bosch is a brave maker of art. The kind of person you notice because of her natural tendency to dive deep with every project, for 100 %. She shows courage in her points of view and choices of subjects, that often goes beyond the personal/individual and expose a particular engagement with social themes. Furthermore she handles normal and special materials and techniques in a surprisingly way, without losing her own identity. And in the latter lies perhaps her greatest strength: her poetic, connecting and sensitive approach of being human in todays world.”
Stephany Jansen – teacher

Quite the journey
As you can read above, there was some journey in becoming a visual artist. Somewhere on the road there was the career as a music teacher. But there were always also the visual arts. Yes, from early childhood. The picture on the left is a painting that I made when I was nine years old.
I consider it as the Big Bang for becoming an artist.
In 1999 I started to take serious lessons, first in painting and drawing. From 2008 I started exhibiting, with photography with poems. In that time, there was a shift in my artistic aim, from just paintings to conceptual art.
Further professional development came during my master study in arts education, where there were interdisciplinairy art projects, with coaching by artist Henk Schut. And later with Storing AUB for artistic research (picture left).
As an artist, I express and develop myself in multiple art forms: visual arts, poetry and music. Sometimes I combine these art forms in my visual art, like with music, as in the project Holy Ground. Sometimes combined with my poetry, like in my book Everything that was soft.
And I still teach, now as an art educator. You will find more about that on
