You Yourself
are the soul
of my prayers
This is a new project.
The inspiration for the theme comes from a song by Dutch poet Huub Oosterhuis:
You Yourself are the soul of my prayers.
This page will develop, with the projects progress.
For the art, shapes, dynamics etc. I was inspired by the waterlilies of Monet, that I saw in the Orangerie in Paris.
I want to explore the theme and the forms and movement etc, in drawings and paintings. I also have Idea’s for cut outs, fabric prints, objects and a small installation.
A sketch that I made in the Orangerie in Paris, is my starting point.
Further an assignment at an alumni day by the master arts education, became also inspiration for this project.
I also got inspired by a project of Belgian artist Berlinde de Bruyckere: drapes over a figure.

The shapes and forms were inspiring
for this project

I made a jewelry for the wrist, with fabric and paint.
It was for someone who dealt with trauma.
The open parts represent finding new ways,
dreams, healing. The closed parts represent
being carried, shelter.
Before I knew what the assignment was,
I thought of the project of the prayer.
Accidentally the shape of the object
resembles the forms I have in mind for this project.
Perhaps even the function can be further explored
in more of these objects.

Visualized in a personal object of
nearness and support
The starting point was “soft activism”:
how can a personal challenge be translated
into a broader theme in society?
Addressing this through soft activism,
by making a banner that is
wearable, for each other.
